My thoughts: This was a decent book. It didn't blow me away, but it kept me interested too. I liked the idea of daughters of Eve and sons of Hell. Maybe it is un-Christian of me to enjoy a fiction book involving God and his Word, like as if I am considering that maybe some things in this book are real possibilities. I really did enjoy it though, and I guess bringing in God and his Word is what drew me in somewhat.
Sasha is just a regular girl. She is trying to find out who murdered her father. Eryx supposedly can give her the answers, as long as she pledges her soul to him. She doesn't really believe that she would be pledging her soul to him. She thinks she can go in and pretend and still get the answers. Sasha realizes that she is Anabo, a daughter of Eve. Jax comes in to save the day and prevents Sasha from pledging her soul. He knows that she is Anabo, the first in a thousand years, and that she must be for him. If he can love an Anabo, then when the world ends, Jax would have a chance at Heaven. Jax must protect Sasha and win her love, but Sasha would have to give up her mortal life and live on top of a mountain for the rest of her life. Sasha is the key to beating Eryx, which is why Eryx will want her dead as soon as he knows of her existence.
This was really interesting. I love a book that can bring me to a different world, and this one definitely did. Sasha is just a regular girl who is put into a completely different world and has to decide if she is ready to move forward or if she wants to pretend as if nothing is going on. She knows that she loves Jax, but she doesn't allow herself to really enjoy it. She doesn't think she should or can love him, and she tries to ignore her own feelings. Jax is really a sweet boy who is there for Sasha whenever she needs him. He doubts himself too often. He needed to have more confidence. He acted as if he was defeated before he even gave Sasha the opportunity to love him. With that attitude, there is no way he would beat Eryx. If he hadn't doubted himself so much, Sasha would have fallen for him right away. Sure he is a son of Hell, but the bad boys always get the girl!
I really enjoyed this book, but it didn't shock me or blow me away. It seemed kind of predictable, but not completely. I will plan on reading the next book, but probably won't be in any rush to get it.
My rating: ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺
