The Iron King

Iron Fey # 1
Goodreads Description:
Meghan Chase has a secret destiny—one she could never have imagined…
Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school…or at home.
When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she's known is about to change.
But she could never have guessed the truth—that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she'll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil no faery creature dare face…and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart.
My thoughts: This book had me hooked by the second chapter. I just love the characters in this story. And even though Ethan is sort of the pesky little brother to Meghan, I love their relationship. He looks up to her and I guess I really think he just believes in her. I am not sure if she sees him as much of a pesky little brother though, because she talks to him the way an adult would talk to a child and she treats him as though what he tells her is the truth...or could be. I like the way Robbie is like a brother to her. He really takes care of her, even when he's goofing around. I really kind of liked the cliche high school teenager life stuff in this book. I think it shows what kind of a character she has developed as the story goes on while having to deal with bullies and just regular high school stuff.
This book was very fast paced. There was always something going on. As soon as Meghan is safe, something else happens and she has to rethink her plan. It seemed like every time she was in trouble, someone came to save her. I am really hoping that she will take care of herself more in the next books. I am super excited to read the rest of this series. I am curious to see what will happen with Meghan. I am also looking forward to finding out more about Ash and Puck, and whether or not she will stick with either one of them.
My rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
